"Defiance" is a balanced triptych of storied materials. The base of this piece is a granite block salvaged from the original Reno City Hall (built 1906). The top is a hand-carved black walnut tree trunk from an old farm in California. Together they stand six feet tall to tell a corporeal story that is in ways both beautiful and ogre.
